The 1 day train tour to Machu Picchu is a mesmerizing journey by train that is unmatched and full of majestic splendor. You’ll travel in comfort through the ancient towns and villages of the Incas. You’ll pass through alpine meadows that rest within the white, green, and brown peaks. Take your camera as you’ll see breathtaking panoramic views of valleys and layers of Inca handmade farming terraces, ridged snowcapped mountains, and even sub-tropical jungles from Aguas Calientes to the Amazon.

Your day will start early in the morning for an adventure that will lead to the majestic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Your 1 day train tour to Machu Picchu begins at Ollantaytambo Train Station. On your journey, the sacred Vilcanota River will be your companion for your travel to Agua Calientes.

Once you get to the train station in Aguas Calientes, you’ll meet your tour guide and where you’ll catch a bus to Machu Picchu. From there, you’ll take your first steps into the ancient and enchanting world of the Incas. The guided tour will last two and a half hours, where you’ll learn about the cultural history of Machu Picchu. You’ll explore these enigmatic ruins like the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Condor, the Temple of Three Windows, the Quarry, the Sun Dial, and the House of the Inka. Other types of architecture that you’ll see are the legendary agricultural terraces and urban areas used by these ancient people.

After your trip and return to Aguas Calientes, you can catch a quick lunch before taking a comfortable train ride back to Ollantaytambo and then a final trip back to your hotel. While you’re at Machu Picchu, don’t forget to visit the Sun Gate and the Inca Bridge. We will depart Cusco early (depending on the train schedule between 4 to 5am) travelling 2 hours by bus to Ollantaytambo and then board the train to the town of Aguas Calientes. To get to Aguas Calientes from Cusco is 4 hours. Once we arrive to Aguas Calientes, we will make our way to the bus to the citadel, Machu Picchu. Our guide will provide a guided tour of approximately 2 hours and from there you have the rest of the time to explore this extraordinary site. You will be returning to Cusco by train leaving about 2:30 pm followed then by bus and arriving at Cusco approx. 7pm.

Important Note: The exact train times will be confirmed in our office as it depends a lot on the availability of the trains.
