Day 1: Pick up from airport to hotel

Welcome to Cusco! Today, our friendly Machu Picchu Tours representative will be at the airport ready with a sign of our logo and your name. From there, we will transfer you to your hotel and assist with your check-in.

Due to altitude in Cusco (11,151 ft / 3399 m) we do suggest to spend the rest of the day relaxing. We would also recommend arriving to Cusco in the morning that way you can acclimatize to the altitude for the rest of the day or come a day before you start a tour with us.

Day 2: City tour (half day )

Sightsee towards the streets of Cusco, there are fascinating Inca artworks that are still intact to this day with a mix of European-colonial style.

We leave the hotel at 1 pm and visit one of the most captivating cathedral of Peru, We continue the tour by stopping at the temple of Coricancha (Sacred Temple of the Incas) and finish exploring the city by going to the nearest archaeological site of Cusco, Sacsayhuaman (12139 ft / 3700m). We end the tour by visiting Qenqo, Tambomachay and return back to the hotel.

Day 3: Sacred Valley (overnight in Ollantaytambo town)

Today we will visit one of the most iconic places in Cusco, The Sacred Valley of the Incas. We pick you up at 7:30 am and make our way to the first stop point, Awanacancha. During the trip, we will have first sighting of South America’s treasured animals, llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. We will also have the opportunity to learn about the alpaca wool and have time to shop for some beautiful quality baby alpaca fabrics.

As we continue on with the tour, we visit the archaeological center of Pisac (9,750 ft / 2,972 m), one of the prominent ruins along the Sacred Valley. Pisa market is one of the most recommended markets where you will find a variety of gifts and souvenirs for all types.

Afterwards, we will have lunch (included) offering a variety of options. Then we stop at a Peruvian bar (Chichería) and try the traditional Peruvian drinks.

Finally, we stop at the last archeological site, known as Ollantaytambo, visit one of the oldest museums of South America. Continue on by exploring the grand site and move our way to the hotel in the Sacred Valley . There we rest and prepare for the short Inca Trail the following day.

Day 4: Inca Trail Hike

We will pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 am, from there, we will drive to the town of Ollantaytambo and then board the train to km 104, this is where the real adventure begins! The trail runs for approximately 4 hours through gradual and very steep climbs until we get to the top of the beautiful archeological called Wiñayhuayna (known as forever young) reaching up to 8746/2666m. We will have time to explore and learn more of its history and origins. After lunch, we will be ascending through mountains and a further 2 hours through terrain fields. With spectacular views and unforgettable memories along the Inca trail, you will have every chance to take incredible pictures of the sunset overlooking Machu Picchu.

Mission accomplished, we arrive at Machu Picchu! Have your camera ready for some great pictures! We make our way to Aguas Calientes via bus and stay overnight at one of our recommended hotels!

Day 5: Machu Picchu Tour & back to Cusco

Today is a special and grand day, we will visit one of the 7 wonders of the World, Machu Picchu. After breakfast we will board the bus (30 minute ride) to the citadel of Machu Picchu Citadel (7874 ft / 2400 m).

Our guide will have the pleasure to share the history of our ancestor and show you the most important places of Machu Picchu. This will be a guided tour of 2 hours. From there, you will have free time to explore and take plenty of photos. We finish the tour by boarding the bus back to Aguas Calientes, have lunch (included) and take the train that leaves at about 2:30pm. Please note, the train ride will be 2 hours and another 2 hours via bus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.

Day 6: Free day

Cusco has plenty to offer! Whether it be adventure, culture, trekking or shopping! So take advantage of today to explore more about this beautiful city.

Day 7: Cusco – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco

You will be picked up from your hotel at 5 am to leave to the southern valley of Cusco, a bus drive of approximately 2 hours. Here you will have a small stop for breakfast (included). After breakfast, the trip will continue for 45 more minutes on bus until you reach the starting point of the Rainbow Mountain Trek. The Rainbow Mountain Trek hike takes approximately 2 hours until reaching the top of the mountain. The hike is mostly a climb up to the top (16,732 ft / 5,100 m), which is generally an easy trail. Nevertheless, the altitude is what makes this hike a challenge. Along the hike you will see beautiful landscapes, some local families and of course many llamas and alpacas. Once you reach the top you can appreciate grand Ausangate, one of the largest snowfalls in the Cusco region. When everyone finishes taking pictures of the Rainbow Mountain, you will start the descent until getting back to the bus. You will return by bus to Ccolca and have lunch there. After lunch, the bus drive will continue for 2 more hours until arriving at Cusco at 4pm – 5pm approximately.

Day 8: Transfer Out

Time to say goodbye and we hope you had an enjoyable trip! Today we will transfer you to the airport at the requested time.
