Welcome to Cusco! Today, our friendly Machu Picchu Tours representative will be at the airport ready with a sign of our logo and your name. From there, we will transfer you to your hotel and assist with your check-in.
Due to altitude in Cusco (11,151 ft / 3399 m) we do suggest to spend the rest of the day relaxing. We would also recommend arriving to Cusco in the morning that way you can acclimatize to the altitude for the rest of the day or come a day before you start a tour with us.
Today we will visit one of the most iconic places in Cusco, The Sacred Valley of the Incas. We pick you up at 7:30 am and make our way to the first stop point.
During the trip, we will have first sighting of South America’s treasured animals, llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. We will also have the opportunity to learn about the alpaca wool and have time to shop for some beautiful quality baby alpaca fabrics.
As we continue on with the tour, we visit the archaeological center of Pisac (9,750 ft / 2,972 m), one of the prominent ruins along the Sacred Valley.
Pisa market is one of the most recommended markets where you will find a variety of gifts and souvenirs for all types. Afterwards, we will have lunch (included) offering a variety of options. Then we stop at a Peruvian bar (Chicherías) and try the traditional Peruvian drinks.
To end the day, we visit the last archaeological site, known as Ollantaytambo. We explore its beautiful attributes it offers and then take a dinner break (not included) before boarding the 7pm train to Aguas Calientes (approx. 2 hours). Overnight stay.
Special/Important Information: Prior to entering the town of Aguas Calientes, we recommend that you leave your suitcases at your hotel in Cusco. Unfortunately, large suitcases are not permitted in the train, only carry-on which is why it might be best to take a backpack.
Today is a special and grand day, we will visit one of the 7 wonders of the World, Machu Picchu. After breakfast we will board the bus (30 minute ride) to the citadel of Machu Picchu Citadel (7874 ft / 2400 m). Our guide will have the pleasure to share the history of our ancestor and show you the most important places of Machu Picchu.
This will be a guided tour of 2 hours. From there, you will have free time to explore and take plenty of photos. We finish the tour by boarding the bus back to Aguas Calientes, have lunch (included) and take the train that leaves at about 2:30pm. Please note, the train ride will be 2 hours and another 2 hours via bus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
Time to say goodbye and we hope you had an enjoyable trip! Today we will transfer you to the airport at the requested time.
At Machu Picchu Tours & Treks, a representative will organize a simple meeting the night before your tour or trek starts. During this meeting, you meet fellow adventures or tourists and gain valuable information regarding all aspects of your trip.
If you do arrive late, your Machu Picchu Tours representative will leave you a message regarding the time and meeting details for the next morning.
For those of you who have purchased your arrival through Machu Picchu Tours, or if the entry was part of the cost of your chosen tour, please note the following:
