Cheapest 2 Day Inca Trail Tour
2 Day 1 Night Inca Trail

If you find yourself in Peru and have a couple of days for an adventure but are still short on time, then our Cheapest 2 Day Inca Trail Tour or 2 Day 1 Night Inca Trail is the perfect trek. On the Inca Trail Tour, you’ll see impressive and ancient Inca sites, panoramic mountain views, and also extraordinary subtropical vegetation and ecosystems you won’t find anywhere else in Peru.

This is the best alternative to the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

This “Ancient” Inca Road will take your travels through a National Park and have you entering Machu Picchu through the legendary Sun Gate or Inti Punku. Here you’ll be greeted by unforgettable views of the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu.

You’ll pass through subtropical vegetation and forests amongst the clouds. A region that is full of distinct flora and fauna. This 2 Day 1 Night Inca Trail will not only have you seeing the city in the afternoon but also allow you to visit it in the morning.

What to Expect on your 2 Day 1 Night Inca Trail?

On day one, you’ll start your journey from the Ollantaytambo train station for a short trip to where you’ll start to hike the Inca Trail (km 104). You’ll then have a three-hour hike to the Inca terraces and visit the Wiñay Wayna archaeological site.

Be sure to take a camera as you’ll witness fountains that have flowedn for years as they plunge down the mountainside into the Urubamba river.

You’ll continue to the Sun Gate, and follow a historic footpath that has been laid by the Inca to get your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu in all its majesty. After a full day hike, we will be accommodating you for the night in Aguas Calientes.

On the second day, you’ll take a bus to Machu Picchu for an unforgettable and immersive experience of Machu Picchu. You’ll see the local sites before heading back to Aguas Calientes for a quick lunch and a train trip back to Ollantaytambo. This is the perfect getaway for those short on time and wants to see the majestic wonder that is Machu Picchu.

The Classic Inca Trail has a limit of 500 trekkers a day. This number includes guides and porters so barely 200 people get to hike this in a day. Because of this, the permits tend to get sold off months in advance. This 2 day Inca Trail is the best alternative.

How hard is the short Inca trail?

Short Inca Trail is the easiest hike to Machu Picchu. Infact, we consider this as an ideal trek for families with young children. It involves no long hikes or high altitude campings. You will be hiking for four hours. You will also get to see the two iconic Inca ruins, Wiñay Wayna and Sun Gate (Intipunku).

How long is the Short Inca trail?

Short Inca Trail can easily be hiked in a day with an additional day dedicated to visit Machu Picchu. It is a 9.9 miles (16 kilometres) trail from the trail head in Km.104 to Machu Picchu, which is covered in 6 hours.

Is the Short Inca trail worth it?

If you are looking to visit the highlights of Inca Trail and hike the 500 years old trail, then it is totally worth it. Short Inca Trail is the best alternative to the classic 4 day Inca Trail. It is an easier option as it involves no high altitude hikes.

Where to stay before Short Inca trail?

Short Inca Trail begins from Cusco. So it is best if you are staying at a hotel within the historic centre of Cusco. Alternatively, if you are staying in Sacred Valley (Chinchero, Urubamba or Ollantaytambo), we can also organise a transfer from your hotel with prior notice.

The Inca Trail is by far the most famous trek. It manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud forest, sub tropical jungle and stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels.

I highly recommend this amazing tour guide for your next trip! I went to Peru for my 30th birthday as a solo traveller and John made sure I had a fantastic time. He knew all the best places to eat and take photos. He had so much knowledge and passion about South America. He is an amazing person and really did everything possible to make my trip a once in a lifetime experience. My first view of Machu Picchu at sunset is one that I will truly never forget and I am so grateful to John for makign that possible! 🙂
