You’ll pass through subtropical vegetations and forests amongst the clouds. This Short 2 day Inca Trail will not only have you seeing the city in the afternoon but also allow you to visit it in the morning.
On day one, you’ll start your journey from the Ollantaytambo train station for a short trip to where you’ll start to hike the Inca Trail (km 104). You’ll then have a three-hour hike to the Inca terraces and visit the Wiñay Wayna archaeological site.
Be sure to take a camera as you’ll witness fountains that have flowed for years as they plunge down the mountainside into the Urubamba river.
You’ll continue to the Sun Gate, and follow a historic footpath that has been laid by the Inca to get your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu in all its majesty. After a full day hike we will be accommodating you for the night in Aguas Calientes.
On the second day you’ll take a bus to Machu Picchu for an unforgettable and immersive experience of Machu Picchu. You’ll see the local sites before heading back to Agua Calientes for a quick lunch and a train trip back to Ollantaytambo. This is the perfect getaway for those short on time and wants to see the majestic wonder that is Machu Picchu.
The Classic Inca Trail has a limit of 500 trekkers a day. This number includes guides and porters so barely 200 people get to hike this in a day. Because of this the permits tends to get sold off months in advance. This 2 day Inca Trail is the best alternative.

Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a high altitude experience. We highly recommend you to spend 3-4 days in Cusco before the trail to avoid altitude sickness.

We will pick you up at your hotel at 5am, from there, we will drive to the town of Ollantaytambo for breakfast and then board the train to km 104, this is where the Cheapest 2 Day Inca Trail Trek adventure begins!
The trail runs for approximately 4 hours through gradual and very steep climbs until we get to the top of the beautiful archeological called Wiñay Wayna (known as forever young) reaching up to 8746/2666 metres above sea level.
We will have time to explore and learn more of its history and origins. After lunch, we will be ascending through mountains and a further 2 hours through cloud forests. With spectacular views and unforgettable memories along the Inca trail, you will have every chance to take incredible pictures of the sunset overlooking Machu Picchu.
Mission accomplished, we arrive at Machu Picchu! Have your camera ready for some great pictures! We make our way to Aguas Calientes via bus and stay overnight at one of our recommended hotels!
Today we hop on a bus and make the journey (30 minutes drive approx.) to visit Machu Picchu, The lost city of the Incas.
Our tour guide will welcome you with a 2 hour guided tour and take you to the most important temples and enclosures Machu Picchu has to offer. After the tour, you will have free time for exploring Machu Picchu on your own.
If you have booked to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will direct you to the trail head. Please Note, the entrance tickets needs to be booked months in advance.
Alternatively you can hike to Inti Punku or Sun Gate. This is the point of entrance to the citadel to those on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
After the full day tour of Machu Picchu, we will depart Aguas Calientes to board the train at 2:30pm (depending on availability) to Ollantaytambo train station. Here our representative will be meeting you and will be driving you back to Cusco. We will arrive at Cusco City at roughly 7:00 p.m.
