Huchuy Qosqo is perfect if you’re limited on time, and it is also one of the most beautiful treks. Though ideal for families or a group of friends with a taste for a hiking adventure, this trek offers gorgeous scenery and fantastic stops along the way.

Your Day One trek starts at the Inca site Tambomachay which is only twenty minutes from the Inca capital Cusco. As you hike, you’ll be surrounded by a stunning landscape and historic Inca sites. You’ll break for lunch in Quencco, and then after a loop around Qoricocha Lake and a two-and-a-half-hour hike to the nearest village, you can relax with the local villagers and learn about Andean life.

Day Two starts in Quencco, and you’ll journey to Huchuy Qosqo. You’ll see the ancient Inca Trail and the village of Pumamarca. On this hike, you’ll see lush vegetation and exotic wildlife along with the snow-capped mountains of the Urubamba Mountain Range. You and others will pass through the Inca gateway before arriving at Huchuy Qosqo, which sits above the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here, you’ll be greeted by ancient Inca buildings, sacred temples, storehouses, and Inca terraces for their agriculture and the Inca reservoir. After some time there, your trek will continue down to the Sacred Valley toward the village of Lamay on the Urubamba River. There, you will catch a bus to Ollantaytambo before taking a train to Aguas Calientes.

On Day Three is where you’ll finally see Machu Picchu. At Machu Picchu Tours & Treks, we organize everything, and that includes getting you your bus  and train tickets in advance, so you don’t have to worry about transportation back to Cusco. Times vary so that it will depend on your request for the trip. Once you get to the Inca citadel, you’ll get a comprehensive tour of the ancient ruins. You’ll have time to wander on your own. After you’ve had your fill of this ancient world wonder, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch then off to Ollantaytambo by train. After this, we’ll take you back to Cusco by bus for an easy return from an exciting trip.
