Our two day Machu Picchu Sunrise Tour in a small group is an excellent way to immerse in the serenity of the lost city of Incas while witnessing the sun rising on the Inca citadel.

Machu Picchu Sunrise Tour is an ideal option for families and for those wanting to see the golden rays of the morning sun shimmering on the 500 years old walls of Incas.

We operate the Machu Picchu Sunrise Tour pretty much similar to the traditional 2 Day Machu Picchu Tour. However, the only difference being, you will be entering the citadel of Incas early in the morning to see the sunrise.

If you want to combine the hike to Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu Mountain with this tour, make sure to book it in advance. The permit is restricted to a limited number of people which is often sold out months in advance.

Do take a moment to check our reviews on Trip Advisor.

Day 1: Cusco to Aguas Calientes

This two days tour starts with a pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 08:00 AM. We will be driving you through Sacred Valley of the Incas to Ollantaytambo train station (2 hrs approx.) where we will take the 11:30 am train to Aguas Calientes arriving at 2pm.

Once you have checked in at our hotel, you will have the rest of the day to explore the town of Aguas Calientes.

What to do in Aguas Calientes?

If you love history then the Machu Picchu Museum is a great place to visit. The museum highlights pre-Inca times with a collection of Inca artefacts. The Orchid Gardens is another location to visit which is about a 30 minute walk from Aguas Calientes.

The site has a rustic feel filled with a variety of beautiful orchids on display. Or enjoy the rest of the day relaxing in the thermal waters of the Hot Springs, in Aguas Calientes.

Early in the morning, we will be boarding the tourist bus for a thirty minutes ride up the hill to visit Machu Picchu.

The tour guide will be meeting you at the entrance of the citadel and will assist you in clearing the security control to enter the citadel. Please note that you will have to show your Entrance ticket and original passport that you have used at the time of booking.

We will then give you a detailed two hours guided tour. During the tour, we will take you to the most important temples and enclosures. After the tour, you will have free time for exploring Machu Picchu on your own.

If you have booked to climb Machu Picchu mountain or Huayna Picchu, our guide will direct you to the respective trail head. Please note you can book this optional trek at an additional cost while you book the trip.

We highly recommend you to hike Huayna Picchu during the dry season (March to November). From December to February its Rainy Season in Peru and the trail gets wet and slippery.

Alternatively, you can hike to Sungate or Inti Punku. This is the point through which those on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu enter the citadel from.

After the full day trip of Machu Picchu, you will be taking a bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here you will board the expedition train to Ollantaytambo train station. Here, our representative will be meeting you and will be driving you back to Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco City at around 7:00 p.m.
