The half day Sacred Valley Bike Tour popularly known as Maras Moray Bike Tour is a high altitude mountain bike tour to the two prominent sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Accompanied by a professional English speaking local tour guide, you will be biking on the dirt roads of the valley. Sacred Valley Bike Tour gives you a chance to immerse yourself in the pristine views of the Andean Landscapes.

Both Inca Ruins, Salt Mines of Maras and Farming Terraces of Moray played a ital role during the Inca civilization.

Maras Salt Flats have been in use since Pre Inca times. It has been passed down in the line of succession. Farmers here continue to practise the traditional salt farming method as their ancestors.

They let in the natural spring water into the geometric shaped salt puddles and wait for it to evaporate. It then leaves behind crystals of salt which they scrape out manually.

The circular farming terraces of Moray are quite distinct. It has different levels dug into the ground. Each of these levels have different temperature zones. The Incas used it to experiment the growth conditions of crops.

Thanks to this, Peru now produces over 800 different varieties of potatoes among other crops.

The tour is ideal while you are acclimatising in the altitude of Cusco before your trip to Machu Picchu.

Maras Moray Bike Tour: Half Day

We will begin the experience with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. If you are not staying within the historic centre of Cusco, we will be picking you up at a meeting point. Then we will be driving you to Cruz Pata where we will begin the bike ride.

We will start cruising down the hill through the beautiful countryside to Maras with a view of Snow Capped Andean peaks. Here our guide will give you a guided tour of the complex. To prevent contamination at the site, authorities now restrict visitors from getting closer to the salt flats. However, you will be able to get a panoramic view from the viewpoint.

Once you have had your fill of this beautiful site, we will continue the Sacred Valley Bike Tour to Moray.

Moray is home to circular agricultural terraces. They are dug into the ground with different levels. It resembles the Roman Amphitheatre. Here our guide will be sharing some insights on how these terraces were used by Incas to experiment the growth condition of crops.

After the great experience, we will be riding back to Cruz Pata. Here we will be meeting our driver for our journey back to Cusco City.
