Half Day Maras and Moray ATV Tour From Cusco

If you have never ridden a quad before you probably have a few questions. Here is everything you need to know before we toss you the keys.

The service begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco and transportation to our base in Cruzpata. After receiving safety instructions and completing a practice session, you will follow the guide through the countryside toward Moray. After visiting the circular terraces on foot, the ride continues to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Maras Salt Mines. You will then return to Cruzpata and travel back to Cusco by tourist transportation.

The complete experience takes approximately half a day, including hotel transportation, the safety briefing, practice time, riding, and visits to Moray and the Maras viewpoint. The exact duration may change depending on traffic, weather, trail conditions, and the riding pace of the group.

Shared group prices start at US$79 per person for groups of four or more. The rate is US$89 per person for groups of two or three. 

The passenger rate is US$65 per person when sharing an ATV with another participant. Private service starts at US$120 per person, depending on the number of travelers. Entrance fees are not included.

The service includes hotel pickup and drop-off in Cusco, transportation to Cruzpata, an automatic ATV, fuel, helmet, safety instructions, a practice session, an English-speaking guide, and a first-aid kit. Admission fees, food, beverages, personal expenses, travel insurance, and optional tips are not included.

No. Travelers must pay separately for admission to Moray and the designated Maras Salt Mines area or viewpoint.

No previous experience is required. The vehicles have automatic transmissions and are relatively simple to operate. Before entering the main route, your guide will explain the controls and supervise a practice session. You must demonstrate that you can accelerate, brake, steer, and stop the vehicle safely.

Drivers must be at least 16 years old and capable of operating the vehicle safely. Age alone does not guarantee permission to drive; every participant must complete the practice session and follow the guide’s instructions. Younger travelers may be able to participate as passengers, but this must be confirmed before booking.

Riding an ATV involves inherent risk, particularly on dirt roads and uneven terrain. We reduce that risk through vehicle checks, helmets, operating instructions, supervised practice, controlled group speeds, and an accompanying guide. Participants must stay on the designated route, maintain a safe distance, and avoid racing or overtaking.

Wear long pants, a comfortable shirt, a windproof layer, and closed-toe shoes with good grip. Your clothing may become dusty or muddy during the ride. 

Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and a rain jacket or poncho during the wet season. Avoid loose scarves or accessories that could interfere with the vehicle controls.

The activity is less physically demanding than a mountain hike, but drivers must remain seated, hold the handlebars, control the vehicle, and absorb movement from uneven terrain. 

The archaeological visit also requires some walking. Travelers with physical limitations or medical conditions affected by vibration or altitude should contact us before reserving.

The shared service follows the scheduled group pace and includes other travelers. Each guide accompanies a limited number of riders along the route.
